Avis Issue 3
With Issue 2 at the printers, we’re opening calls for Issue 3.
For our third issue, we want our submissions to focus on ‘Influence’. This issue will be released late-Summer.
Influence: the workings of others, of alcohol, of emotion, on our own actions.
Influence: the flowing in, the arrival of the foreign, the secret operations of history.
Give us your Unconscious influences. Tell us the influences you wish you had, but don’t. Perhaps you want to tell us about your idol. Perhaps you want to tell us about what you did when you last got off your head. Perhaps you want to talk about the world’s deep machinery and how you are pulled into it, and how you escape. Perhaps you write to honour David Bowie. Perhaps you’re obsessed with him. Perhaps you’re obsessed with nothing, influenced by nothing: totally pure.
What does it mean to be shaped and changed by another? What does it mean to shape and change?
Go wild, cats.
A few stipulations. Please read these closely; we are inevitably better disposed towards work that meets our requirements.
Closing date is 23 May 2016
Send your work in standard manuscript format.
Fiction writers, poets and essayists, please send your work in a single word doc or docx format. If you send it in the body of an email we will have to ask you to send it through again. And please don’t send us separate word documents.

We aim to let you know within 4 – 6 weeks of the closing date.
Avis read submissions blindly, which is to say, anonymously. To ease the editorial process please do not put your name on any part of your submitted document.
